Review and Invitation Process

Applications undergo a holistic review process that considers all aspects of the submitted materials. The Residency Recruitment and Selection Committee consists of faculty and chief residents from both BWH and MGH. Faculty members include the Mass General Brigham Chief of Enterprise Pathology, the BWH and MGH Deputy Chairs, a diverse cross-section of AP and CP faculty and several laboratory investigators.

Applicants are granted interviews based a review of the entire application. Applicants will be notified by November 1st at the latest whether or not they have been invited for an interview.

Up to 18 Anatomic Pathology (includes AP, AP/CP or AP/NP applicants) resident positions, and up to 4 Clinical Pathology resident positions, will be available.

The BWH and MGH Departments of Pathology – assisted by their respective BWH and MGH Centers for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) – are fully committed to workforce diversity. We participate in the Visiting Clerkship Program of the Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership at Harvard Medical School, including the Harvard-Affiliated Residency Program Showcase. We work closely with our CDI teams to raise awareness of unconscious and implicit bias amongst our interviewing faculty. During recruitment, the CDI staff works collaboratively with all residency training programs by hosting a series of informal reception dinners to connect residency and fellowship candidates with faculty and house staff who are underrepresented in medicine. The CDI works in conjunction with the Mass General Brigham Graduate Medical Education Office to support the Cost of Living Stipend for Economically-Disadvantages Residents program, which assists residents with significant financial challenges.
